Its defining\n          characteristic\n          is the way its colors shift depending on the angle of light. The character “ra” (螺) refers to spiral shells,\n          while “den”\n          (鈿) signifies inlay.\u003cbr\u003eIts history dates back to ancient Mesopotamia. Introduced to Japan during the Nara\n          period, raden has captivated\n          generations across more than 1,300 years of history and continues to be celebrated today as one of Japan’s\n
