Knot was founded in 2014 in a small flat slightly away from mainstreet in Kichijoji, west end in Tokyo. The pioneer of “Mixed and Match Watches”, it is a company that connects people with one another through craftsmanship.

The wristwatch, which once played an indispensable role in our lives as a tool for “checking the time”, is about to see that role come to an end in the new way we live our lives today. Meanwhile, many customers from all over the world visit our Knot Gallery Shops every day. That is because what we offer are not simply “tools” for keeping time.

Our goal is not making watches or Straps. We believe that our mission is not to simply distribute “products”, but to connect for many years to come with the memories of spending time with loved ones, the traditional Japanese crafts that have been proudly passed down the generations, and the brilliance of their craftsmanship. And of course, at a price that everyone can afford. As the leading customized watch company, Knot is also aware of the natural environment and has begun to focus on sustainable initiatives.

Japan is a country known for its craftsmanship. They may not all be big names, but there are world-class skills and traditional crafts throughout the country. Take Tochigi leather, for example. One of our partners, they are one of the few companies in the world that deal in 100% naturally derived tanned leather. Their tanners meticulously tan the leather by hand to produce the highest-grade Nume leather, which is transformed by skilled craftsmen into the finest watch straps. This premium quality leather is also used by leading overseas “maison” fashion brands, but if we eliminate the unnecessary costs of distribution, we can provide this Japan quality to the world at a reasonable price.
This is a new style of craftsmanship, one that is required not only for watches but also for other areas. We will use this style to connect the world with high-quality products full of Japanese skill and tradition, regardless of the genre, making Japan quality available to all people regardless of age, gender, or race.
