A Hakata-ori strap by Chikuzen Orimono Co. Ltd., crafted using knowledge and techniques spanning over 777 years of tradition

Hakata-ori, a textile long cherished as a specialty of Hakata in Fukuoka Prefecture, is counted among Japan’s three great woven textiles and has a history dating back to the Kamakura period. Using this traditional fabric, we have created a strap featuring the beloved Japanese motif of sakura.
While cherry blossoms are widely seen as a symbol of spring, in the world of kimono, patterns depicting blossoms on branches are considered seasonal, whereas designs featuring only scattered petals can be worn throughout the year. This strap draws on the evolving petal patterns found in traditional obi, cutting out select sections to create seven distinct pattern variations. Because each strap is cut from the fabric individually, no two patterns appear exactly the same – offering the pleasure of choosing one that feels uniquely your own.
The strap also features a tapered shape, designed to create a refined and elegant look on the wrist.

Signature gloss and elegant touch typical of Hakata-ori fabric.

To weave a 32cm belt, it takes between 6,000 and 10,000 warp threads being so densely packed that the weft becomes almost invisible. This technique achieves a very supple material that is also strong and resilient.
This is a dense and tightly woven fabric that feels good on the wrist.

This one-of-a-kind strap combines Hakata-ori fabric with vegetable tanned Tochigi Leather for a striking combination.
