The Majestic Artform Treasured by Elite Warriors. The Himeji Kurozan Leather Strap, crafted through a fusion of traditional tanning and lacquering techniques.

Himeji Kurozan Leather is created by combining Japan’s time-honored methods of tanning and lacquer coating. Its history dates back centuries, and it is said to have been used in armor and weaponry during the Sengoku period.
Through the meticulous application of multiple layers of lacquer, Kurozan Leather attains exceptional durability and striking beauty, earning it a reputation as “The Black Diamond of Leather”. This rare material is so intricate to produce that even skilled artisans can craft only about 20 pieces per month. The multidimensional luster created by the layered lacquer, together with the unique, organic texture made by the craftsman’s skillful hand, are the defining characteristics and greatest appeal of Himeji Kurozan Leather.

For added durability, the reverse side of the strap is lined with water-resistant smooth leather.

SAKAMOTO SHOTEN

Sakamoto Shoten was established in 1923, and it continues Himeji’s leatherwork tradition to this day. It is the only workshop in Japan capable of overseeing the entire process in-house, from tanning to lacquer coating. Third-generation craftsman Hiroshi Sakamoto perfected the “Himeji Kurozan Leather”, elevating its texture and color to an art form.
Over a decade, he has introduced it to the European fashion industry, earning widespread acclaim both in Japan and abroad. Committed to sustainability, the workshop minimizes the use of chemicals, creating eco-friendly leather that is highly regarded worldwide.
