Over three times the durability of cowhide
Horse hide has over three times the strength of durable cowhide.
With cowhide or other normal leather materials, the surface portion is used.
The rump area of a horse, however, has a portion of about 2 mm in thickness called the cordovan layer.
In the creation of leather, only the cordovan layer is shaved away from the flesh side of the hide for use.
Compared to the two-layer structure of cowhide or other ordinary leather, leather made with only the cordovan layer has a one-layer structure with no gap between the base and the grain side, and does not deteriorate even after years of use.
Thickly bodied with a sense of luxury
We made change to the product for a thick body suitedto mechanical watches, in response to requests from many customers.
By changing the thickness from 2.8mm to 4.5mm at the base of the lug, we created a three-dimensional effect that highlights the distinctly beautiful luster of cordovan.
A rarity extolled as the "jewel of leathers"
Cordovan is a leather created by shaving the 1mm-thick dense fiber cordovan layer from the flesh side of the hide found at the rump of a horse. Hide with both sides of the rump connected is likened to "glasses" or a "shell" for its shape.
The amount of cordovan that can be obtained from a single horse is very small. Cordovan has been likened to a diamond for its rarity and cost, with the method of its careful shaving from the front and back sides of hide akin to the mining of gems.
A commitment to the unseen
We took particular care with the reverse side, too, as befits the Premium Series. The accent color features a casual charm like the lining of a suit. For black, navy, and dark brown, the color is wine red. Brown, oak, red, and dark brown are combined to yield a sense of luxury, elegantly enhancing fashion.
Add our original D-buckle helps to reduce damage on the strap and prevents it from slipping off. It keeps your precious wristwear beautiful forever.
