Takata orimono tatami beri
Straight shape

Created in partnership with Takada Orimono, made from the traditional material lining the edges of Japanese Tatami mats

Tatami is an aspect of Japanese culture that is recognized worldwide, and this transition has now been transposed into wristwear. The edges of Tatami mats make them unique, adorned with a wide variety of patterns. With this selection of watch straps, the traditions of Japanese interior design have now been transformed into fashionable wristwear items.

product list

An elegant plaid pattern carrying the motif of the Kurashiki storehouses

The most typical pattern used for tatami mat edges is the diamond shape, arranged in a lattice pattern modeled after the “Namako Walls” often found in samurai residences in Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter.
The design is a story that evokes the ancient traditions of Japan and Kurashiki, in Okayama Prefecture.

A concentric diamond lattice, expressing the disciplined world of Tatami

High quality Tochigi leather is used as the strap’s backing material. By wrapping the strap with leather, we have been able to create a Tatami-Beri strap without any risk of unraveling.
Individual details are finished horizontally and vertically, following the traditional Tatami mat pattern.
