Strap by Kaihara Denim, the industry-leading pioneer of Japanese denim
Founded in Hiroshima Prefecture, the company first began producing Bingo Kasuri fabric in 1893, and has been pushing the boundaries of fabric development ever since. In 1973, the company received its first order from US jeans giant Levi’s, and became an internationally recognized global leader in denim manufacturing. Kaihara Denim’s commitment to integrated production has allowed it to offer an unmatched level of tradition, innovation, and technical expertise. The company has researched and developed its own proprietary machinery, and is committed to the highest quality materials, dyeing, and weaving. It is with great pride that we now present Knot’s first denim strap, produced in collaboration with Kaihara Denim. The strap has been created according to luxurious specifications, featuring Tochigi Leather on the reverse side.
The beautiful look of faded denim
The perfect shade is achieved by applying a special indigo dye in several stages, repeatedly dyeing the threads and exposing them to the air to oxidize them.
The process is fine-tuned to take into account the weather each day.
The culmination of this process produces an exquisite indigo blue which takes on even more character as it ages over time.
A jeans-like design as an homage to denim
The backing and loops are made from material by Tochigi Leather in Japan – one of the world’s finest tanners.
The soft vegetable-tanned leather is the type also used for the hip labels of jeans, and is infused with oil for an attractive sheen. Just like the denim fabric, you will be able to appreciate its gradual change in appearance as the leather ages over time.
The strap also features a reimagined edition of the Kaihara Denim logo which is uniquely embossed on Knot straps.
Additionally, the adjustment holes are fitted with stainless steel rivets.
These are the same kind used on jeans pockets, providing yet another design motif unique to denim items.
