NUNOUS is an all-new upcycled material created by Seishoku, a material dyeing and processing company in Okayama. It is made by laminating and slicing large quantities of fabrics which were rejected as out-of-spec products, due to the smallest scratch or stain, or the most imperceptible color difference.
The pattern on each slice of material is one of a kind, and no two will ever be the same. The slight warping effect that occurs during the lamination process gives the fabric a completely individual pattern, resembling that of wood grain.

Seishoku has traditionally worked on dyeing and processing work uniforms, and began developing NUNOUS in 2013. The company, which has been involved in processing many different fabrics at its factories in Japan, has been working to address the causes of environmental pollution in the textile and fashion industries. It has honed its own production methods, and is working to promote sustainable production techniques.
