radiance that shifts subtly with the passage of
time.
Each dial features a unique pattern, making every
watch one of a kind.
A new form of craftsmanship and
timekeeping, born from
collaboration with
Kanazawa Haku
artisan Satomi Miyagi
Using the kirimawashi technique, platinum leaf is cut into flakes and carefully laid across a dial dyed in deep
indigo.
Gold and platinum leaf are then applied individually with tweezers and scattered using a bamboo tube in the
chirashi
style, creating expressions that are never the same twice.
Light and shadow weave depth
into the surface, while precious metals radiate a transparent brilliance.
This singular model is the fusion
of Kanazawa’s traditional craft and Knot’s watchmaking craftsmanship.

Mastery That Turns Chance Into Perfection

Kanazawa Haku artisan –
Satomi
Miyagi
For over 20 years, Satomi Miyagi has devoted herself to exploring the expressive possibilities of metal leaf. She explains: “My greatest challenge was letting chance and precision coexist within the tiny world of a watch dial.” Through repeated trial and error, she arrived at a method combining the randomness created by shaking a bamboo tube with the deliberate precision of placing each fragment by hand. This results in dials that are individual works of art, each with their own character, yet balanced and harmonious across the collection.
The Art of Dial Making
Platinum leaf on the dial
Platinum leaf, roughly cut by hand, is first placed onto the dial. Then, with a traditional bamboo tool, fine flakes of leaf are sprinkled over the surface. The blend of glossy highlights and soft matte textures creates a unique character unlike any other.

Tradition meets modernity
Indigo coloring is applied to the platinum leaf dial, creating a foundation of depth and richness. Against this backdrop, the gold and silver leaf applied later stand out even more vividly, enhancing the dial’s three-dimensional expression.

Placed by hand, piece by piece
Platinum leaf is applied again, with subtle variations in size and placement. Each fragment is carefully judged and positioned by the artisan, ensuring balance and refinement.

The technique of chirashi
Gold leaf is scattered using a traditional bamboo tube. Even the seemingly random trajectory of falling leaf is skillfully controlled by the artisan’s hands, arranging them into a uniform, elegant pattern. Additional pieces of gold leaf can then be added by hand to perfect the final pattern.

Completion through some 40 steps
To ensure stability and durability for use in a mechanical watch, a top coat is applied in the final stage. The creation of each dial involves around 40 meticulous steps, brought to life as part of a timepiece.

an Icon of Kanazawa Platinum and Gold Leaf

The watch dials are hand-crafted by Hakuichi, founded in 1975.
Kanazawa has been a center of leaf artistry
since Edo times, and even today it produces over 98% of Japan’s gold
leaf.
Hakuichi champions the fusion of tradition and innovation, preserving artisanal
techniques while
continually finding new ways to apply them.
Its efforts extend beyond Japan, sharing the beauty of Kanazawa
leaf with the world.

From Material to Craft,
From Craft to Culture.

Hakuichi has transformed gold leaf from a simple material into
sophisticated works of
craft, nurturing it
into Kanazawa
Haku
– a defining feature of Kanazawa’s regional culture.
By integrating with modern
technologies, it
continues to explore new
potential.
From traditional gold leaf, their journey has
expanded to
silver and
platinum. They pioneered the world’s first edible
gold leaf, developed
cosmetic leaf such as the famous oil blotting paper, architectural
decorative leaf,
and even new
composites fusing leaf with glass and
ceramics.
Through original research and development, Hakuichi continues to pioneer
Kanazawa Haku into
the future.
Kanazawa,
Japan’s Gold Leaf Capital

Kanazawa – A City of Craft and Culture
As one of the few major cities never damaged by war, Kanazawa has preserved its castle town structure,
traditional townhouses, and samurai residences since the Edo period. This continuity has allowed artisans’
lifestyles,
workshops,
and the city’s cultural atmosphere to endure without interruption.
Today, Kanazawa continues to share
its living traditions with the world as a true “city of craftsmanship
rooted in daily
life”.

High-Beat Movement – The Hallmark of High Performance
Equipped with a mechanical chronograph movement, rare even among Japan’s premium timepieces, vibrating at 28,800 beats per hour. Comprising approximately 310 parts – twice that of a standard movement – it represents extraordinary mechanical sophistication. Experience its precision first-hand.

Case finished with the advanced Sallaz mirror polishing technique
from Hayashi Seiki Seizo, exclusive to the Premium Automatic Series
Sallaz mirror polishing is an advanced finishing technique which produces a beautiful flat surface with clean edges and zero distortion. There are very few craftsmen who are able to apply Sallaz mirror polishing, which makes it a rare and precious sight. The name “Sallaz” was originally derived from Swiss processing equipment, but it is now only found in high-end Japan-made watches. The ability to give different looks to the same material by carefully polishing each part is a highly sophisticated technique performed exclusively by the experienced technicians at Hayashi Seiki Seizo.

Sapphire Glass
with an Anti-
Reflective Coating
The crystal utilizes the same level of sapphire glass with anti-reflective coating that can be found in luxury watches. The coating is on one side only, which increases the visibility of the clock face while at the same time minimizing discoloration of the glass.

Stainless Steel SUS316L
Knot uses SUS316L stainless steel as standard, renowned for its exceptional corrosion resistance and employed in surgical instruments. This material minimizes the release of metal ions, making it comfortable even for those prone to metal allergies. (Please note that not all wearers are guaranteed to be free of allergic reactions.)

Peace of Mind
With a 3-Year Warranty
To ensure long-lasting enjoyment of your mechanical timepiece, all Premium models include a three-year warranty from the date of purchase. With our own workshop, Knot also offers reliable repairs and aftercare service. For details, please see the Repairs section on our website.
