“Kanazawa leaf” – a traditional craft steeped in history
Stretching metals to their absolute thinness is contingent on a variety of factors, including master
craftsmanship, skillful paper preparation, which determines the leaf’s final quality, and a climate which is
conducive its production.
Kanazawa leaf is said to have originated in ancient times, ordered into production
by Maeda Toshiie, founder of the Kaga clan at the very beginning of Edo Period, Kanazawa’s climate and water
quality are particularly well suited to leaf crafting, and the technique has been handed down the generations
for over 400 years since the Kaga-Hyakumangoku times.
The metal is evenly spread to one ten-thousandth of a
millimeter, while still retaining its brilliance. This rare and expertly crafted platinum leaf makes the dial
exude elegance with its impressive thinness and exquisite shine.

The dial is coated with flakes of platinum leaf created from finely stretched metal, giving the watch a
delicate, beautiful look created by the layered platinum sprinkles. The model with three-hand movement
(AT-38SVPT) even has its own unique application of platinum leaf, visible on its see-through case back.
We
wish for
people to be able to enjoy Kanazawa leaf not only as a luxury item, but also in everyday use, and hope that it
will become widespread across the countries. It was upon this idea that Hakuichi was founded. By pushing the
boundaries of innovation and going beyond the norm, Kanazawa leaf can reach its full potential. This
limited-edition dial has been made possible by the collaboration with Hakuichi – a company unbound by
stereotypes and ready to challenge convention.
